Food, Work, Fun

Saw a friend on a Sunday, Went to work on a Tuesday

and had a date on a Wednesday, and on Friday I was seeing the family.

I saw Maya on Sunday it has become like a weekly ritual, We went to the Toby carvery in Sheldon and spent roughly and hour and a half chatting about work and friends and life in general. We went to Lickety lick across the road for dessert. Maya had the Black forest Sunday as I ate hers last week, I had chocolate overload which wasn't amazing.

I love seeing Maya she makes me feel connected to my friends which is weird. She has seen them like 3 times in the last few weeks and I haven't seen them since January. I do wish things were different between us all but I just don't think it will happen. Maya is training to become a police officer, she is really enjoying it. I wish I had the dedication to do a job like that but I don't think it would suit me.

On Tuesday I had a very stressful day at work, the managers that weren't on shift were using my support staff to help with their jobs and I just felt honestly under pressure. I felt like I couldn't give 100% customer service because I was constantly struggling. I didn't leave work until an hour and a half after the bowl closed. I hope my next shifts aren't like this.

On Wednesday me and Sam woke up and went back to Star City which is the entertainment complex I work in. We didn't go into Tenpin as it was my day off. We went to watch Jurassic World in Vue cinema and because Jacy gave us vouchers we could go gold class which was epic. I have never done anything like that before, unlimited popcorn, recliner chairs WOOO. The nachos we ordered were rubbish, runny cheese sauce and salsa that tasted like it was watered down. Spending more on snacks than tickets I was a little annoyed and I didn't enjoy them much.

Jurassic World was awesome, I am not a massive fan of the Jurassic Park films so I thought it would drag on a bit, It captured my attention and the graphics and acting were really good. I would happily buy it on DVD and watch it again and again. Sam also enjoyed it. After the Cinema we played in Fun Zone on some arcade machines. A Jurassic Park shooting game which Sam won BOOOOO, a racing game which I won YAYYYY and basketball game which again I won ha-ha Sam in your face. We did play some little ticket games and got 71 tickets which we saved for next time.

We then went for dinner in Oodles Noodles and the food was gorgeous but the only down side was the waiting staff, Our main waiter was lovely but some of the others were impatient. It wasn't  very busy yet I hadn't finished my starter and the main was brought out and the waitress was waiting to take my plate while I was still eating my food. It was all a little bit weird. I probably wont go back but the food was nice. Sam adds "and hot".

On Friday I spent the day mainly driving. I took Katie, James, Robert and Lucy to school. I bought Lucy home though because she wasn't feeling very well but she did clean the house and look after the dog. About 11 am me and Sam went to see his Mum at her kitchen in Bordesley Green. Then we went to Erdington to pick up his glasses and had a baguette from Greggs. I dropped Sam home and went back to pick Lucy up and we went to go and collect the kids from school. I bought her a little milkshake and chips from maccies to try and cheer her up.

Hopefully next week is a little bit calmer but more interesting. I doubt it.

Weekly Update!

Chilling, Food, Work and Tents.

On Monday all I did was go to the hospital for a blood test and then onto my favourite hobby which is FOOD SHOPPING!!! I watched far to many Once upon a time's, ate way to much chocolate and thought about far to many things. Monday was just a good chill day, I spoke to old work colleague Ian about a job opportunity, I spoke on the phone with Louise for about half an hour and I listened to a little bit of music which always makes me happy.

I have been actively trying to become more positive, I am on day 24/365 of a book called The Secret, Daily teachings by Rhonda Byrne. So far my favourite page is day 7 which is a quote and all the whole page says is "happiness depends upon ourselves" Aristotle (384-322BC). Some of the book is a bit wishy washy but I try to interpret it differently. At the moment I am trying to write 100 things I am grateful for every day, which is a lot harder than it sounds believe me. Once I think I am full of gratitude I may post bits and pieces from my lists and how I have found writing them.

I spent my first Tuesday not having to take Mum to the hospital doing nothing, I woke up watched more Once Upon A Time which I am far to addicted to ha-ha. I tidied my bedroom which definitely needed to happen. I spent an hour cooking me and Mum a glazed pork, mustard mash, green vegetable and balsamic sauce lunch, it was yummy I am so proud of myself. It was then time to do my make- up, hair and get dressed ready for work.

I left the flat at 3 o'clock as I was going to see my friend to give her a late birthday present and have a cup of tea and a little catch up. Christina had been a little unwell over the last year but I must say she has come so far in the last 8 months I am really proud of her. I don't want to say to much on the subject. We were speaking about the future and how she has put on a bit off weight, how we are both getting on at work and her pets. Christina is writing a book, she has only just started and she made some really pretty birthday cards. I wish I was as creative as she is.

It was now 4.30pm so I had to leave to get into work, I arrived just before 5pm and wrote down the holidays I am going to request off, even though I have only just gone back if I don't use my holidays I loose them. I spoke to Marc my general manager about a few of my ideas and got my friend an interview but I don't think he went. I did a little bit of P.A work for Marc and phoned a person from a C.V. we had and offered him an interview. This was before my shift.

I got out of work at roughly 2am because it was quite busy and we don't close the bowl until 12pm. I was speaking to Louise (my friend outside of work also), Karime and Samira about how the team had changed and their ideas on how to get it back on track. I need as much information so I can attempt to change it. I want the team back to being a family.

One's that I made him try
The one's that we picked.

Sam's current glasses

I woke up at 11am ish and slowly got ready while Sam watched the Gameovergreggy show on Youtube (don't tell Sam but I have a sneaky little watch as well ha-ha). We went to Erdington to get Sam some new glasses, which I have pictures of and I will add them to my blog and Sam will most likely kill me ha-ha. Off to lunch we went as I work on a Tuesday night, I stay at Sam's on the night and we have a little date day, we had a kebab and chips in a chip shop restaurant in Wylde Green Birmingham, called Atlantis Fish and Chip shop. We both ordered the kebabs and we got the small for £6 which filled the whole plate, we only ate half.

After Lunch we went back to Sam's house and built up my tent, Tony and Ade are borrowing it to go to download festival. My tent is brand new and can sleep 6 people comfortably. We made some mistakes and it did take just over half an hour to build. It looks huge, I am so excited to holiday in it. For our dinner we ordered a Chinese, Me and Sam both had BBQ spare ribs and they really were lovely. We watched some Wil Wheaton who I have been a little bit obsessed with since I was like 11 years old and then I went home.

At home I wrote my grateful list and watched Once Upon a Time then pretty much went to bed.

Sunday is the new Friday...

Meeting my friends for a
catch up.

Me and Maya in 2013

A few Sunday's ago I met up with my friend Maya just for lunch, to have a catch up. We went to the local harvester pub thinking they served a carvery, which they did not. Maya being Maya suggested going to find a carvey so I informed her that there was one five minutes down the road. We ended up in the local Toby carvery and stuffed our face with food. It was so yummy we even had a pudding.

My food from the Toby Carvery - Sheldon.

We spent roughly 2-3 hours just chilling and chatting (putting the world to rights) it was such a lovely afternoon that we arranged to meet two weeks later to do the same thing. I drove Maya to her sister in laws and tried to drive home with no Sat - Nav. I 100% got lost and drove around the same roads 3 times haha.

Me and Bentley in 2012

Two weeks flew by and it was now our 2nd date this time our mutual friend Richard AKA Bentley was coming along with us. I picked them up from the Toby Carvery we went to last time and suggested trying a different carvery called the Olton Tavern which was not far away from the Toby Carvery. We got there and sat down.

I hadn't seen bentley in more than 6 months, so it was nice to see him, we all ordered coke and a carvery. The carvery didn't look impressive and it tasted worse than it looked, which is sad to say but true. I left half of mine and so did Maya. We were talking about what we had been upto and laughing and joking, We looked at the dessert menu when Bentley suggested driving about 10 minutes away to go to a dessert place.

We arrived at Lickety Lick and it was like a 50's diner we spent roughly 3-4 hours there chatting and laughing and trying to decide what to order. I chose a cherry something Sundae, Maya had a black forest sundae and Bentley ordered a overloaded chocolate I think. They came and Mine and Maya's got mixed up and I ate all of hers so we couldn't swap.....I am sorry Maya haha.

We spent roughly an hour after eating talking about memories and reliving our laughs from years ago, taking pictures and it was just a lovely relaxed afternoon. We have arranged to meet up next week to do the same except not going to the Olton Tavern.

I dropped Bentley into town and then dropped Maya home we sat in the car chatting about husbands, boyfriends, revising, babies and more. Maya doesn't really trust people all that much but she confided in me while we were sitting in the car and I am so glad that she has somebody she can open up to. Her Husband Jammie and Daughter Rose came back from the park and rose jumped in the car while Jammie went upstairs.

Me, Maya and Rose were playing and talking then Rose became obsessed with my car and wanted to drive (pretending obviously she is only 2). We were twisting the dials and learning about the gearstick, She loved it so much that it took a good 10 minutes to actually get her out haha. Next week I told her we can drive it to the park which I am totally excited about.

Do you do this type of thing with your friends?

Friendship!

“If you haven't learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven't learned anything.”  Muhammad Ali

I have exactly 4 friends, people I can honestly call close friends. I am not going to name them but you will figure it out in my blog posts who I spend more time with. I have a big social group of friends, work friends and a few people who I will meet up with or talk to every now and again.

Before me and Sam were together and before I started work, I had loads of free time so seeing friends was never really a problem I could fit in between their lives. I would see most people on a weekly basis which was great. I loved the support and the excitement of shopping, laughing, clubbing and any of the other things we got up to.

Having a boyfriend and a social life is difficult because so many people want your attention and time. I struggled a lot at first and stopped seeing my friends as much which did cause issues and I found myself constantly apologizing or rearranging things and never having any time for myself. I still managed to see people and go clubbing for special occasions but I was more focused on my dream. My dream is to have a Husband, a baby, a lovely home that I own and be financially stable.

When I started work I had even less time to spare for my friends. I worked stupid hours so the day after my shift would be wasted with catching up on sleep and travelling 2 or more hours to and from work. It was just hard fitting everything in because I had to see my family also.

Now I have had six months now to re evaluate what I want from my friends and what I want to put into them. I want to see things in the shops and buy them knowing my friends would love them. I want to have amazing catch up lunches and friendly phone calls. I dont want to feel guilty for not seeing them or be made to feel like I have let everybody down for not attending the weekly booze up.

My 4 friends are the best, I know what is happening in their life and they know what's going on in mine. They are my priority and I will always see them before the others in my friendship group. I still appreciate everything that has happened between my past friends. I have been through so much and leant on them probably more than I should
but that shouldn't hold me down, right?

To me friendship is loyalty, equality and understanding.

Feeling Accepted

Acceptance !

I suffer with anxiety and panic attacks and at the moment I am having a little bit of trouble dealing with them. Different things can be the trigger for example, busy places, meeting new people, stress, and groups of people. This weekend has definitely been a test haha.

First my very very loud Dad came over which doesn't ever make me anxious because I am used to him and his loudness but I also had my friend Waffle coming over for a few hours. I always get stressed meeting up with friends because I am very conscious of saying the wrong thing and upsetting people. Waffle arrived while my Mum and Dad were out shopping for a cooker. I think because it was just me and her I was instantly calmer and she knows how weird I can get so she calms me herself. As the evening went on we just had loads of fun just like we used to when we saw each other every week.

Waffle cooking risotto.

I then went to see Sam's Mum Jacy and her husband Richie. I do dread speaking to Sam's family sometimes even though they have never given me reason to. I went in and I did feel a little anxious but I gave Jacy a little present I bought her while I was shopping and sat down. I could see that Jacy was shattered so I only stayed for about ten minutes. I am so proud of myself for going on my own.

This is an old picture but I like it.

On the Saturday I went to see my Sister in law Sue for her birthday and 4/5 nieces and nephew were there. I never feel anxious around them I just want to talk to them and play games with them. My Brother Chris on the other hand can sometimes get me a little bit flustered but I think that is more to do with our relationship being a little bit rocky.

Later the day I had a meal for Sam's dad Tony's birthday he is a twin with Ade who is Married to Rose, they have a brother called Michael and a sister called Debbie who is married to Pete and they have a daughter called Georgia and not forgetting the most important person of the family Ann Sam's Nan. It was in a big restaurant and it was very busy, we arrived late which always makes me feel a little on edge. After roughly 20 minutes I had completely calmed down and was making jokes and laughing with them all.

The reason why I have told you about this is, I never really feel comfortable in my own skin but so far this weekend I truly feel accepted and loved by them all. This is a HUGE thing for me.

Let me know if you ever feel this way?
